ABOUT
Hi! I’m Melissa, owner of MATERIAL HAPPINESS. What is MATERIAL HAPPINESS? Well, if you love textiles like me, then you already get it. But if not, well, then… Welcome! Come feel this gorgeous silk! Have a look at this stunning print! Isn’t this vintage quilting cotton delightful? It won’t be long and you’ll get it too… There are indescribable amounts of joy that stem from creating with your own hands and being able to share that joy with a community of like minded folks. Having lovely, affordable, accessible materials to work with makes it all the more fun.
As time goes on I’ve traveled deeper and deeper down the maker's rabbit hole. Machine sewing lead to hand sewing, and then knitting. Next came spinning my own yarn, weaving it into cloth, and dying it with those gorgeous bright yellow oxalis weeds in the yard. Some folks find one thing they love and dive deep with it. Others, like me, like to give it all a go. There’s no wrong way! One of my greatest superpowers is finding the perfect project and then painstakingly sourcing all the ingredients, which is perhaps how I ended up with SO MUCH STUFF! Between myself and other crafty folks who need multiple lifetimes to use up what they’ve collected, let’s find you just what you need for your next textile adventure!

MISSION
Sewing is for everyone. Being creative is your birthright. Re-circulating materials creates access for more people to enjoy a creative life. It also helps mother earth and our collective burden of overconsumption by contributing to a circular economy.
