SASHIKO - Grid Stencil

Quickly draw a range of grids, from 1/4 inch and up, to use in your sashiko stitching projects. After years of using a ruler to mark and measure out grids Mininature Rhino designed this stencil mainly for their students, so that it's easy and fast for drawing out 1/4" grids.

It can also be used to draw out 1/2", 3/4", 1" grids and used for all kinds of projects like cross stitch, smocking, bullet journaling and calligraphy. To extend the grid beyond the stencil dimension simply line up the previous marks and continue drawing your chosen grid.

This is the original Sashiko Grid Stencil designed by Miniature Rhino, produced in the US in a family run-business & plastic free, made of oil-board, a material sealed in linseed oil to help strengthen and waterproof it.

WHY AN OIL BOARD STENCIL? I try hard to reduce plastic use and while a plastic stencil will last longer. That's also the problem. It will also last too long (including the waste created while making the stencil). I've looked into recycled plastic, but that's not an option at this time. Paper makes sense. It's flexible, low waste, won't snap or crack like rigid plastic stencils & with care it can last a very long time. It can even be repaired should it get damaged. Try using a washi or paper tape.
